There are several tax rules that might make it profitable to invest before the year is over.<\/blockquote>\n                    <div class=\"text--small text--weight-500\"><\/div>\n                <\/div>\n            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n<section class=\"text-block block columns-1\">\n    <div id=\"\" class=\"deeplink-anchor\"><\/div>\n    <div class=\"container\">\n        <div class=\"row\">\n            <div class=\"col-12 offset-lg-1 col-lg-10 offset-xl-2 col-xl-8\">\n                <div class=\"text-block__text-wrapper rich-text d-block\">\n                    <p><strong>Small business scheme (Kleineondernemersregeling, KOR)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is the last year you can profit from KOR in its current form (from 1 January 2020 there will be new rules!), which means investing can be appealing if your VAT (btw) is just above the limit of \u20ac1.883. Suppose you owe \u20ac1.883 in VAT for 2019 and you buy a nice camera for \u20ac1.000 (excl. VAT\/btw). Because the VAT is \u20ac210 (21%) you would declare this \u20ac210 as input tax in your VAT declaration and you\u2019d pay \u20ac1.673 (\u20ac1.883 \u2013 \u20ac210) in VAT. But because of this investment you can apply for the Small business scheme (KOR) and the \u20ac210 is multiplied by 2,5 which means you only owe: \u20ac1.148. An extra VAT benefit of \u20ac525!<\/p>\n<p>Small scale investment allowance (Kleinschaligheidsinvesteringsaftrek, KIA)<\/p>\n<p>When you invest for over \u20ac2.300 in one year, you can use an extra deduction: the KIA. The deduction is 28% of the investment amount. Suppose you invested \u20ac2.000 this year, then it\u2019s worth the trouble to buy that iPad of \u20ac 500 that you needed anyway. This way your investments will be over \u20ac2.300 which gives you an extra deduction of \u20ac700 (28% of \u20ac2.500)! (beware: from 2020 you will need an investment amount of \u20ac 2400 to use the KIA)<br \/>\nEnvironmental investment allowance (Milieu-investeringsaftrek, MIA)<br \/>\nFor electric (cargo)bikes there\u2019s another deduction other than the KIA: the MIA (Environmental Investment Allowance). With this allowance the government encourages you to ride a bike instead of driving a polluting car. This deduction can add up to 36% of your investment. To use the MIA your investment needs to be \u20ac3.000 at least and it has to be listed in the Environment list. You also need to apply for it through RVO.nl <\/p>\n                <\/div>\n            <\/div>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n<section class=\"image-block block\">\n    <div class=\"container\">\n        <div class=\"row\">\n            <div class=\"image-block__image-container col-12 offset-xl-1 col-xl-10\">\n                <div class=\"image-block__image-wrapper\">\n                    <img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"\n                         class=\"image d-block w-100\"\n                         alt=\"Investing in your business? Let\u2019s shop?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Of course it\u2019s great to \u2018reward\u2019 yourself with a new camera, iPad or an electric cargo bike. But from an entrepreneurs perspective it might not be the best decision if you already made these investments last year. It\u2019s important to know as well that you don\u2019t have a lot of extra deductions when you make a profit of around \u20ac25.000. Because if you have a profit around that number and you qualify for private business ownership allowance, you don\u2019t have to pay income tax (you do have to pay for the health care law, in dutch: Zorgverzekeringswet, ZVW). So the extra deduction has no use then.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In conclusion<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Only make an investment if you can really use it and if you have a good profit.
